    Synopsis

Disorganization in the interview and oral presentation of the psychiatry oral exam is a common phenomenon. This book helps exam candidates successfully organize the introduction, interview, oral presentation, and video exam phases of the ABPN Part II examination. It provides detailed how-to techniques in the collection and presentation of clinical data. These strategies include the stop, look, and listen strategy; note-taking strategy; the use of pronouncements; chronology and transition statements; the use of video and cassette recording of interviews and presentations for critical analysis; and other helpful techniques.

Michael G. Rayel, M.D., is currently the director of the department of psychiatry at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Peninsulas Health Care Corporation. He trained in general psychiatry and psychodynamic psychotherapy at New York Medical College, in geriatric psychiatry at New York University Medical Center, and in forensic correctional psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He lives in Clarenville, Newfoundland.
