      Synopsis

This tiny woman proved that one person can change the world. Because she fell in love with Jesus with an intensity rarely known by the greatest of saints, and because she saw Him in every human being, she gave us all a chance to know unconditional love.

Anyone who spent any time with her at all remembers the warm glow, the excitement, the safety of her love. When Mother Teresa was introduced to the United Nations, the Secretary General called her "the most powerful woman in the world."

By her example, she made us all aware of the needs of all the world's suffering people. She praised the poor and begged us to love them, cared for the lepers and asked us to do likewise. She realized that there was no greater suffering than being alone and unloved, no matter how many material comforts we might have. She touched many souls and woke them up. "It isn't easy being married to Jesus," she said. "He can be very demanding and he likes you to do what he asks with a smile."

When it was learned Maryanne Raphael was writing a book on Mother Teresa, a friend, who was taking her vows as a Missionaries of Charity sister, invited her to spend a day with Mother, her nuns and their families. "Don't write about me," Mother told Raphael, "write about the work." Each time her friend introduced her to another nun during the course of the day and mentioned her book, the nun would rush her to Mother, who always graciously smiled as though it was the first time they were meeting, and then continued their conversation where they'd left off. Each time, she selflessly reminded Raphael, "I am only a pencil in God's hands. Write about His work."

Called To Love is a down-to-earth, easy-to-read account helping the reader to feel Mother Teresa's spirit. In the Introduction, Raphael tells of her personal experiences with Mother Teresa, how she changed her life and taught her to love.

The book itself is a dramatic narrative allowing the reader to witness the miracle of her life and work. One reader said he had planned to take in a few pages each night, but it grabbed him and he devoured every page before he put it down. "It raised my spirits at the same time it made me want to cry," he said, "and I felt this sense of peace."

The first edition of Called To Love is a special run of 300 copies which will be signed by the author. Help bring Peace On Earth by sharing the love of the woman who won the Nobel Peace Prize and whose life was Something Beautiful For God.
