January 14, 2008: Having lived in China, Italy, Brazil, and the United States, Bellucci's insights are far-ranging and penetrating. Upon reading PASTICHE, I felt like I had discovered a window on the world. Without intending to be, the stories are nevertheless very informative about cultural differences in the countries where they take place. The story line always takes precedence, however, and the characters rivet your attention on the unfolding action. In each tale there are subtle and sensitive personality differences that are intricately woven into a compelling plot. The writer's imagination is keen and full of vivid imagery. Never a dull moment in this decidedly different collection of short stories and poetry.
