March 21, 2008: What a story! I, like other people, had an issue with this story as well when I first heard about it. I was fortunate enough to actual me him in person. I read the book and met him after I had completed the book at a book signing. If you are an emotional person and love to 'feel' the book you read, then this book is definitely for you! Robert Davis and his journey brings all the emotions of tears, sadness, dread, and of course in the end, elation. The highlight of his journey is his return home after spending over 20 years away from home. He doesn't pretend, he just 'is'. He tells his life's story as if he might die tommorrow. Matter of fact, I felt soo unconfortable with his brutal honesty that I often had to put the book down. The crowning of his epic journey is his transformation and dependence on God instead of man, learned after 22 years 'on the run'. Being a fugitive for 22 years has to take a toll on anyone. But when I met him you could hardly tell, other than the fact that he his quite muscular and built. He was soft spoken, polite, and most of all very personable. One can tell from his words and his gestures that he's very confident about his life since freedom. I was especially delighted to learn later that the profits from his book are donated to the very people he originally hurt in the beginning. This is literally the best memoir I ever read in my life! I highly suggest it!

August 09, 2007: COP OUT is a book that grips the spirit. I and my family throughly enjoyed the many ups and downs experienced by the author as well as his final desination...freedom. I'm especially happy that I've learned that he now is an unpaid speaker to churches and schools, which is where this amazing story should be told. It was especially welcomed that he donates to various women organizations... a noble donations. This is the way life is suppose to work: put back in what you took out! I wish everyone would read this book with an open mind.
