July 02, 2004: This well written book takes the reader into the action at an animal sanctuary and shows rather then tells the stories of triumph, jumor, pathos, and struggles around the horses, dogs, goats that are residents there. I found the author's reflections touching, true to life, and deeply affecting. The short essays make it easy to pick up and read when there is a limited period of time, but admit to devouring the whole book cover to cover the first time I picked it up.

February 14, 2004: I have never ridden a horse or even known one up close and personal but this book touched me deeply. I got it for the dog stories (which I devoured - full of rich imagery and laughter) went back to read the horse ones and got amazed at the way the horses became real to me. She has a way with words that left me feeling and seeing as I read. This is well worth taking a look at, has some real gems in it.
