Synopsis

Lipsman (math, U. of Maryland) not only wants to cure his readers of their math phobias, he also wants to improve their financial health. To this end, he explains the computations necessary to compound interest, determine before and after-tax income, and make other simple calculations necessary to managing finances. He covers many subjects relevant to near and long-term economics, including home and car loans, paycheck deductions and investing in the stock market. The text has a companion website where readers can input their own figures to individualize the data Lipsman provides. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
