    Synopsis

Shock jock extraordinaire Wendy Williams lets loose with the first in a series of novels based on her alter ego, the divalicious radio DJ Ritz Harper. Ritz puts the s in shock and the g in gossip, and Drama is her middle name.

Ritz is a suburban girl on the outside, but inside she’s a hustler’s hustler who’s masterfully maneuvered her way into the spotlight after ruining the career of a well-respected newswoman (and former college friend). Ritz’s “exclusive” rockets her to the top of the ratings, and she’s rewarded with her very own show. Like a talking Venus flytrap, she verbally seduces her on-air guests, only to have them for lunch as she spews gossip about their lives.

Ritz becomes the darling of the station’s afternoon slot. But what happens when Ritz goes from drive-time diva to drive-by victim? Has Ritz bad-mouthed the wrong person? Has her signature cat-and-mouse “bomb drop” been dropped on her instead?

As Ritz lies crumpled on a city sidewalk, all she can think as she struggles to maintain consciousness is “Who did this to me? Who?”

Readers will salivate as they try to figure out where the fictional Ritz ends and the real-life Wendy begins. Wendy will involve her millions of listeners by asking them what should happen to Ritz, which will be revealed at the beginning of the next novel, scheduled to be published in fall of 2006 for Christmas.

    Kirkus Reviews

From shock-radio deejay Williams, the story of shock-radio deejay Ritz Harper, who made her fame by viciously destroying people's reputations on air and is gunned down in the streets. Ritz has always been a hard-working good girl. But she is fed up with slogging through the night shift for WHOT in New York City. She wants to be a star. She finally gets her chance when she spills some titillating gossip about her old roommate, a famous newscaster. Suddenly, Ritz's star shoots to the top. She gets her own show in a prized time slot, and the mudslinging begins. Ms. Loose Lips will blab about anyone and anything that her spies can dredge up. If a rap star is on the down-low, you can be sure Ritz will be the first to bust down his closet door. If a young starlet has herpes, well, once she pays a visit to Ritz, her secret is safe no more. Soon Ritz starts waltzing down red carpets. She snaps at her friends and covets the limelight. She has become a true diva with a cold, calculating approach to life and success. Needless to say, by the time she is shot, there is a long catalogue of names from which to choose a suspect. However, dear readers, the gunman or gunwoman will remain a mystery until volume two. Catty antics can't save the stilted dialogue, plodding plot and unsatisfying climax.

January 26, 2009: I loved listening to Wendy's show so I just had to read this book.It took a while for everything to come together and sometimes I felt as though she was just talking about herself, Charlamane, and Nicole. But, all in all, I liked the book. It was a quick read and down right hilarious at some points.

I Also Recommend: Invisible Life (Invisible Life Series #1), A Love of My Own, Any Way the Wind Blows, Not a Day Goes By.

April 15, 2008: The book was better than I anticipated. It is light and entertaining. It's not as trashy as other urban fiction books out there.
