Accessible fantasy for elementary schoolby MrGTeach

June 29, 2009: This book follows the conventions of the fantasy genre. It's at an OK level for 3rd graders. The story involves three kids who follow a secret staircase to the land of Droon. Once there, they encounter dangerous creatures, a princess named Keeah, talking spiders, and other "fantastic" beings and happenings. The kids have to help Keeah, and the story goes from there. The ending leaves open the possibility for the subsequent other books in the series.

April 20, 2009: We chose this book for my son who is in first grade reading at a second grade level. He is progressing quickly so I thought he'd enjoy the story and he did.
