Late British interior designer David Hicks (1929-98) came to prominence in the 1960s with his eclectic style, bold use of color, and affinity for self-promotion. He continued to be a taste-maker whose numerous books translated design trends into a language that amateurs could understand and emulate. His son, also an interior designer and furniture designer, has written a tribute to his father that focuses on his design career. The first half of the book describes Hicks's upbringing, marriage to Pamela Montbatten, and design business. The latter half consists of color photographs of his residential interiors, which include Britwell, his country home in Oxfordshire.
