    Synopsis

The research-proven new diet that enables you to lose weight quickly, safely, and for life—simply by combining foods by the right flavors, at the right time!

From Dr. David Katz comes a groundbreaking diet that maximizes eating pleasure, optimizes health, and guarantees permanent weight loss. And it doesn’t require any calorie counting or restrictions on food groups. Supported by scientific research at the Yale Center, this new diet is proven to improve blood sugar, lower blood pressure, and even reverse key markers of diabetes and heart disease!

By combining foods selected by flavor, The Flavor Point Diet tricks the brain into being satisfied all day long, so readers don’t eat when they don’t need to.

Following "flavor themes," readers will learn how to artfully combine the right flavors and to separate the wrong ones in order to reach the Flavor Point—the moment at which they feel completely full and deliciously satisfied. They’ll find it takes less food—and calories—to turn off their brain’s appetite center—and they’ll enjoy weight loss that will last a lifetime.

With 6 weeks of menu plans, over 100 new recipes and dozens of tools on how to adapt the plan to one’s personal taste and lifestyle, here is a complete blueprint for using this scrumptious new method for life.

    Library Journal

The Katzes-David is a high-profile nutritionist, and Catherine a cook-urge readers to rehabilitate their taste buds, which have been conditioned to need lots of variety owing to the prevalence of fast food and packaged foods in our culture. As demonstrated by Eric Schlosser in Fast Food Nation, hidden and artificial flavors designed to encourage addictive eating permeate our food. According to the authors, if people organized the flavors in their diet, they could feel full and satisfied on fewer calories. The Katzes pay particular attention to the important appetite regulators of volume, energy, density, macronutrient content, and glycemic load and suggest a diet that involves using a flavor theme for each meal. They posit that the key to staying on this diet, which is practical and grounded in sensible and healthy principles, is by having variety over time in meals, rather than having too much variety at any one time. Including six weeks of menu plans and more than 100 new recipes, this well-written and easy-to-read book is recommended for most public libraries. David's bylines in O magazine and the New York Times could spark demand.-Carla McLean, King Cty. Lib. Syst., Seattle Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

November 03, 2006: I'm 53 year mom of 5 children and have spent the greater part of my adult life around 20 pounds overweight and trying all the latest diets to lose it. Usually I would be successful and drop 10 to 15 pounds but then I would get bored with the plan and gain it all back in a few weeks. The philosophy of flavor point is right on. We are bombarded with so many choices of mixed up flavors in the United States that those of us who struggle with extra weight have lost the ability to be satisfied. This diet redirects your appestat or defines and simplifies the point of satiety so you can recognize when it comes. The recipes alone in this book are more than worth it. My husband who will order a chicken dish in a restaurant just because he likes chicken said that the Currant Roast Chicken with Caramelized Onions was the best chicken that he's ever eaten. And my daughter who normally will not touch fish liked the Lemon Chives Tilapia a lot.The amazing thing is that although everything tastes so delicious, your time in the kitchen is minimal and the food is readily available at the supermarket. One of the biggest benefits of this diet is that I am realizing that I don't need tons of food to feel satisfied. Really good flavor is now more important than abundance to me! I am so thankful for the simplification of my eating habits.Sincerely,Valerie Porter

Even though you do feel satisfied with the meals, it?s also very satisfying to know that you are no longer loading your body up with sugar, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium. Since the book includes a six week, flexible meal plan with all the recipes, the hard part has been done for you. Just plan your meals and buy the ingredients. This really helped make the program a success.
