    Synopsis

    Face it.

Your girlfriends can tell you what you need to know about just about everything...except men. For that, you need comedian and Essence columnist Finesse Mitchell.

Eager to help his sistas out and show them how to avoid the types of men who have left them baffled, blue, or just plain bitter, Mitchell tells the truth, whether it's good, bad, or downright despicable. Your Girlfriends Only Know So Much clues women in to what men are really thinking at every stage of a relationship, from first contact through deciding to propose. Lighthearted and brutally (if hilariously) honest, Your Girlfriends Only Know So Much lets women in on the things only men know about men and, in the process, saves them from wasting weeks,

    Deborah Bigelow - Library Journal

These books use humor to decipher the minds and language of men for the women who seek relationships with them. Grambs (The Smart Girl's Guide to Getting Even) models hers after a travel guide, discussing the culture of "Manland," its language ("Manspeak"), and its mating rituals. She further offers suggestions for everything from extending one's stay in Manland to reading its driving body language.

Saturday Night Livealumn and Essence columnist Mitchell, alternately, gears his book to African Americans, detailing a brother's mindset and take on women. He uses real-life scenarios, flowcharts, diagrams, and multiple-choice tests to teach readers how to meet, date, and have successful relationships with African American men. He also advises on such matters as subjects to avoid on the first date (e.g., one's kids) and the best time to talk to a man (e.g., when he's done eating). Both books are full of excellent information and are highly recommended.

February 05, 2009: Ladies, Ladies, Ladies. When I tell you that this man is right on it. HE IS THERE!!! The reason I got this book was because one day I was watching the TYRA BANKS show and Finesse was on there helping girls learn to pick the right man. Some of the stuff that the other girls were missing, I caught on and then when it was Finesse turn, he said the same thing I said. So I was like okay, he knows what he's talking about so I came online and bought the book. I got the book one day and was finished it two nights later and then I passed it on to a girlfriend who then passed it on to one more. Finesse mixed it up a little with a test towards the beginning that lets you know if your mindframe is ready for relationships. I'm not going to tell the book but please believe you will be like me underlining and highlighting parts you know you might need to come back to at a later date to make sure you remember to think before acting. I absolutely loved the book and will buy any other book he comes out with.
