"What are we? We are shadows walking in the world, angels of death flying from one victim to another, without comfort, without a purpose, without any true explanation or origin. I don't know how we came to be what we are other than someone did it to us, and did it to them before us, and preceding back, on and on. It was a dark magic that changed us. At their whim." The Legendary breathes new life into the vampire saga which was begun with Eternal Night and continued in The Requiem. The Legendary is the pivotal third novel in The Dream Series, set on the eve of the Millennium. It presses the main character, Jason Maura, even further into discovering dark secrets, those which stood between him and whatever lies ahead. Spanning through time and place, from Ireland to Iraq, he searches for answers which have remained, until now . . . undiscovered.

July 13, 2005: Jessica Barone has really outdone herself with this one....An incredible yet realistic tale of vampires and their travels to the most unlikely places! The author again draws you in by giving the undead real human emotion. I highly recommend this book and look forward to Barone's next tale.

February 19, 2004: If you haven't yet read the first two novels in Jessica Barone's Dream Series, don't worry. The Legendary is surely a gothic/horror novel about vampires with all the bloodsucking you can sink your teeth into, but it does present itself as a stand alone saga of a vampire's search for his roots, his ancestors, descendants and origins. It takes the main character, Jason Maura, to places he's never been, like modern day Clifden, Ireland and pre-Gulf-War-II Iraq. The most philosophical novel in this series, it dives into the most famous question asked by thinking beings throughout history. 'How did we come to be what we are?' Intriguing and exciting, you won't want to put this one down.
