July 04, 2009: I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to lose a significant amount of weight. The doc told my husband he had to lose 20 lbs and recommended this book. That was 5-6 weeks ago and he has lost 14 lbs! This book has very good, common-sense advice, very flexible plans, guides for eating out and EASY recipes. I do not like to cook at all but I was able to follow this plan to help my husband lose weight. Basically, it's LOTS of veg's and fruits, (high fiber), lean meat, avoiding refined carbs, and smaller portions all around. One thing I don't like is that he doesn't talk about salt that much; the recipes don't list how much sodium or how many carbs are in them. And also, it's not working for me; I only want to lose about 5 lbs., and those are really hard to come off. As I said, for someone who needs to lose 10 or more, this book is great. It's also just a healthy way to eat even if you don't need to lose weight.
