Irreverent yet insightful, this lighthearted guide coaches grandfathers on how to celebrate the birth of their grandchildren and enthusiastically embrace all the joys and perils of grandparenting. Written from a grandfather's point of view, it dispenses cheerful advice with doses of humor on subjects such as how to feed and communicate with the children as well as when to spoil them. Included is experienced advice on babysitting, travel, time-sharing, not overstaying your welcome, gift-giving, and making the most of time spent with the young ones.
Walter Roark is the author of Keeping the Baby Alive till Your Wife Gets Home, Keeping Your Toddler on Track till Mommy Gets Back, and the CD-ROM Nine Month Miracle, winner of the National Parenting Center Seal of Approval and the Parent's Choice Award. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

October 26, 2004: I gave this book to my husband when we found out we were going to be grandparents. (We're still on the younger side of sixty.) Besides making him laugh out loud, I think 'Keeping Your Grandkids Alive' helped him feel more comfortable with the idea of being a grandfather at a relatively young age. He was a little reluctant before, but a few weeks later, after reading this book, he seems eager for the adventure. In my book, that's pretty cool!
