November 21, 2009: I've read reviews that blast the book for its lack of biblical basis. This is not a theological story. It is a book of fiction based on one mans interpretation of his life's experience. With that said, people who have been exposed to religious institutions will have differing opinions.
If your religious background is of a denomination that amplifies the New Testament principles; Jesus and the Trinity and the necessity of developing a personal relationship with God; Jesus and the Holy Spirit this story is easier to embrace. If your religious background is legalistic and rules based this story will not be able to as readily embraced. If a religious background does not exist and if one is open to one man's interpretation of his personal story as it affected "his" spiritual life, this could be an opening to understanding how it is possible for believers to get through the bad things that happen in life. The good things are always easy to explain but it's how the bad things can work together for good (for those who love the Lord)! The book does not try to convert anyone. It just explains who this man's traumatic life experience changed his life and released him from the shackles of guilt and sadness. It's a good read!Reader Rating:

November 21, 2009: From the first page I found myself reading this book slowly and not wanting to miss a single line. It is and was a great read. I did not want it to end. This is a story that no matter how many times you re-read it, you will always find something new to mull over. The story is beautiful, bittersweet and makes the reader take a new look at how he/she looks at life and the relationships in one's life. I have only re-read one book in my life over and over again. After 40 years of being an avid reader, I have found the second one.
