February 22, 2007: Lou Krieger and Sheree Bykofsky continue their collaborative efforts with 'The Rules of Poker,' a pocket-sized book with a lot of information for the price. This book takes a top-down approach to understanding exactly how poker is supposed to be played and adminstered, and is recommended both for players seeking to learn the finer points and dealers and floor staff looking for a handy reference guide for poker operations. It's the type of book that you'd like to see a copy of within every poker room. This book jumps from subject to subject in a well organized manner, allowing rapid lookup and retrieval for those that use the book as a reference. But reading through the rules themselves is something that every player should consider, as much to learn why certain rules are the way they are as much as anything else. Krieger and Bykofsky also note regional variations, and even present a late section on rule changes they'd like to see implemented, particularly within tournaments, where proper administration continues to evolve.
