April 06, 2009: I was introduced to this author just like many of you might be, browsing killing time in barnes and Noble, I am an amateuer photgrapher, and after I received my D40 for Christmas this last year, I was hooked and wanted to know all about photography, so I began trying to figure out the whats what and the whose who, and really had no "schooling " in the art, and didn't have time to take formal classes, then enters " UNDERSTANDING DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY" by Bryan Peterson.

What a detail, yet simplitic comprehensive book, that teaches you techique,basics, and gives you great hope that you will be able to create the same quality pictures as he describes.

He immerses you in th world of photography, giving you a new vision, and understanding of a very simple art form that can give immediate results, even from your first snap of the camera.

His techiques are so informative, and he explains it pretty clear, however there are some hairied moments, that for those who have NEVER taken a picture, might have to rearead a couple times, but very rarely.

Bryan has great illistrations of his work using the very techiques he describes, including the shutter speed, exposure, and what lens he used, and basically how he got the end result of the picture.

This book is a great for any one's library, and really helpful to the professional that might need a new perspective, or a newbie needing guidance into the world of photography.

Definately recommend UNDERSTANDING DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY. matter fact any other books from Bryan Peterson, I have them all!

The volume is full of Peterson?s wonderful photos, which illustrate each topic of discussion, and he gives a full description of how each was composed and exposed. These are lessons in and of themselves, but you will also appreciate Peterson?s ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand and enjoy his hearty sense of humor.
