    Synopsis

If they gave out diplomas for what you learn at the mall, Charlotte could graduate with honors. Ever since she got a job as a perfume spritzer, she’s become an expert on all things shopping related—oh and she’s getting really good at spying on her classmates who hang out there. What she hasn’t mastered is the art of convincing her best friend Brianna dump her boyfriend Bryant, after Charlotte catches him flirting with a mysterious, blond-haired stick figure. Now Brianna is taking his side! Charlotte must prove who is right, once and for all, and that means catching Bryant in the act. This is where her mall roaming skills will come in handy. Perfume anyone?

    Children's Literature

Charlotte is a smart, pretty high school student who learns more from her time at the mall than her time at school. She loves her part-time job as a perfume spritzer—until she catches sight of her best friend Brianna's boyfriend flirting with another girl. When Charlotte tells Brianna what happened, nobody believes her. The incident sets events in motion as Charlotte learns to negotiate the shifting allegiances and teenage crushes of high school. Later Charlotte's generosity proves as problematic as her honesty when she takes on more than she can handle by helping a child in need. At this point the story falls into caricatures of the rich and the vaguely described struggles of the poor without ever creating a convincing portrait of Charlotte's altruism. The book reads like a future Lindsey Lohan movie. It arrives just in time for the holiday season, with a subplot about Christmas-giving thrown into a plot largely about a girl stumbling towards love.

July 06, 2009: this book is so good. from the begining you become involved with the characters from rooting for certain couples to get together or to break up ,or wanting to jump in the book and explain to the main character who she should beleive.i defintaly did not want it to end.it has a mix of everything from, freindship, romance and the hardships of high school. but it definatly makes working at a perfume store at the mall sound worth it !!!
