February 08, 2010: John Eldredge discusses the subject of male masculinity. He goes to show that men have failed to show their true image that God created them to be. He gives the steps to finding the secret of a man's soul. Some major themes include becoming more mature as a man and being the man who God created us to be. It also shows that love for ourselves, our wives and our family, and God should be evident. I liked how he incorporated the bible into the book, and God's teachings for us as men and women. I also liked his descriptions of his own life and comparisons to how God wants us to live. I liked how easily he made it to connect to his writing. I disliked how opinionated John was in the book and I also disliked how he believes that no man is reaching his full potential. There are parts in the book that make him sound very biased and almost too radical. I recommend this book for men who need a wake up call and for wives of men who can't seem to understand their husband. Men who want a good and inspiring read with connections to the Bible this book is for them. Wild at Heart is not necessarily great to young unmarried men. If you like this book and want something similar to read any of the "Every Man's Battle" series books which also show the struggles for Christian men. I give this book an over all rating of: 3.5 Stars out of 5. It is all together a great read, and it is very inspirational.

I Also Recommend: Every Man's Battle, Every Young Man's Battle, Every Young Man's Battle, Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work.

December 01, 2009: I found certain parts of this book helpful and insightful. But I felt like Eldredge was kind of all over the place. He starts by talking about how men need to be wild and unfettered, but then the last third of the book just leaves that whole thought process behind. I was really hoping to read Eldredge's opinion about what it means to be a Christian man, and while he gives his thoughts, I didn't feel like it met my expectations or answered my questions. His section on a man's wound is insightful, and his chapter near the end about women and wives was great. But other than those sections, I wasn't very impressed.
