    Synopsis

In one of the most unique memoirs of addiction ever published, Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx shares mesmerizing diary entries from the year he spiraled out of control in a haze of heroin and cocaine, presented alongside riveting commentary from people who were there at the time, and from Nikki himself.

When Mötley Crüe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days — sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers — in a coke and heroin-fueled daze. The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions.

Here, Nikki shares those diary entries — some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre — and reflects on that time. Joining him are Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Slash, Rick Nielsen, Bob Rock, and a host of ex-managers, ex-lovers, and more.

Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and shockingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom — and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again.

October 10, 2009: This is one of the best books I have ever read!!!!!!!! I have been reading since I was 4 years old, and I have read many books, but this book is RIVETING and HEART WRENCHING! Nikki Sixx truly bares his soul in this literary genius.

He reveals things that the average person would find in their nightmares, and these images were an everyday part of Nikki's life.

Nikki Sixx deserves a standing ovation for the bravery and courage it took to publish his most personal exxperiences. He really gives the reader an emotional ride through his heroin addiction.

If I could meet one of the bravest people alive, it would definitely be Nikki Sixx.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a raw, honest, sometimes scary account of addiction. He is also incredibly funny and helps the reader understand what was happening then by adding conversation through a now sober mind.

Nikki, you are truly an honorable man.

September 05, 2009: I am a Motley Crue addict. But, this book wasnt what I expected it to be. Nikki Sixx has this deep dark hole that I guess he fills with young girls until they get older. Then its time to throw them away. I read the book within a day and came away with mixed feelings. I know he came from a bad childhood, but he was a brat. A spoiled one at that. I still love him but when I look at the Nikki from yesteryear and the one today... they arent the same. Yes he finally grew up and got rid of the drugs, million of dollars later. But , honestly, did he learn from all this? To hear him talk about the book, it was a eye opener for him. If you look , he has just replaced one habit with another.
