Synopsis
A long-dormant volcano explodes, blacking out the sun, mowing down trees, and filling the land with soot and ash. The Lord of the Locusts has been released. Against this apocalyptic backdrop, the Bone cousins along with Thorn and Gran'ma Ben struggle to reach safe haven in the city of Atheia.

This book is number seven in the "Bone" series. A volcano erupts and releases the Lord of the Locusts. He and the rat creatures have destroyed the valley. The dragons had protected the valley in the past, but they have since left and gone underground to dream. Now it is up to Thorn, Gran'ma Ben, and the Bone cousins to save the valley. They must travel to Atheia to reach safety. As they head down a tunnel to escape, they begin to hallucinate. When they exit at the end of the tunnel, the valley seems to have been completely destroyed. Thorn claims that it is only partly destroyed and the rest is just an illusion. She believes she can undo some of the destruction with her new powers, which she took from the Lord of the Locusts when he tried to possess her. Their journey becomes increasingly difficult as they must navigate around the ghost circles. The bone cousins add humor and thrilling adventure to the story. The book is action packed and full of truly unique characters. Children that enjoy comic books will like this book. It is hard to follow if the other books have not been read. Reviewer: Melissa Hower

October 15, 2009: Bone series #7 ghost circles is a graphic novel. #7 is about The Bones, Grandma Ben, Thorn, and Venture their rat creature cub go to Atheia after the Lord of Locust comes from a volcano erupts and destroys the valley. They must reach Atheia for safety but they need to avoid ghost circles and other dangers on their way. The ghost circles are illusions that trick the eye and making the mind think what it sees is true. To get though these you must be careful and watch your feet or it could end badly. While back at the valley the valley people are busy defending the valley from the rat creature army and the Lord of Locust. Though the journey they have a few close calls like almost falling of a rock which goes into a ghost circle. Thanks to thorns new powers to see where ghost circles are which she got from the Lord of Locust who tried to possess her before. Once they reach Atheia the bone cousins Fone bone, Phony bone, and Smiley bone steal a hay cart to get in the city. The book was my favorite in the series Bone was one of my favorite graphic novels I like to read it every summer. I give it 5 stars out of 5 and if you haven't got to read this book I recommend it.
