    November 11, 2009: I found this book really inspiring. I have read Barbara Kingsolver's books before, but this one is different than the rest. It inspired me to immediately begin shopping local, and to learn what foods are actually "in season". I now look where my food comes from. I no longer buy asparagus brought all the way from Peru! I actually planted some Fall crops in my little garden. Before I only thought I could plant tomatoes and zucchini because they grow in summer. There's way more opportunity than that! It can change your way of thinking, and you don't have to be a vegetarian. She raised her own meat, in a humane way. I gave a copy of this book to my brother, who already lives on a very small farm of his own in Missouri. This book is definitely "food for thought".
