      Synopsis

The fascinating and terrifying exploration into the supernatural that inspired Stephen King's much-anticipated ABC-TV series, Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital.

The newly built Kingdom Hospital in Lewiston, Maine, is one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the country. Unfortunately, it was erected on the site of a terrible tragedy -- a textile mill fire that killed dozens of workers, mostly children. And it appears that beneath the sheen of the new construction and scientific innovations of The Kingdom, an indecipherable and primal evil lurks -- and the soul of a trapped and helpless child cries out for solace.

Eleanor Druse is a career spiritualist who has devoted her time recently to organizing these journals for publication. She lives outside of Lewiston, Maine.

October 24, 2009: You will not want to put this book down until you've read the last page. I thought the ending could have been better.

King is Ellen Rimbauer? Ridley Pearson will be disappointedby Anonymous

March 17, 2004: Everyone knows that King has used pseudonyms in the past (can we say Richard Bachman), but give credit where credit is due. It was known well in advance of publication of this book that Ridley Pearson (Art of Deception) wrote 'The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer'. That leaves it less clear that King wrote 'The Journals of Eleanor Druse'. However, given the details of the 'accident' involving the main character of the series and his mere mention in the book leaves one to believe in the majority that King did write this book. Is it a certainty? No. Simply a hypothesis. Other things such as inconsistencies in story lines between the two lead me to believe that it was (as was with Rose Red) a separate author. Who knows? Only Mr. King, the publisher and perhaps the author if he is not one of the aforementioned. Definitely not up to par with The Stand, but definitely enjoyable regardless. At least it helps one to understand the series a bit better.
