September 08, 2005: Excellence is a colorful and descriptive memoir about the author George Brennan and his rise from teen angst and mediocrity within the confines of an elite Jesuit institution.During his entertaining journey, we come across some very identifiable colleagues and educators as well as some many interesting facts about this historic New York school.(i.e.United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and NBC personality Al Roker graduated from this school. The school is all-boy, Jesuit, and military in makeup, and they also are one-half of the oldest high school football rivalry in New York history.) The actual book is light in regards to reading content.(There are, interesting enough,no chapters.)Therefore, the meaty chronological content of both humor and inspiration fly you through the book without you ever needing a chapter break to digest it all. Both the book and the author are original and quite memorable. I highly recommend this book to all of you. Students who are interested in attending this school or graduates who have lived to tell should especially make it a point to own this new timeless classic.

December 17, 2004: My baby brother currently attends this fine institution and paying his tution is the one bill I actually look forward to. This book is amazing. It helped me to better understand what he goes through and really helped to put some of the stories he has shared with me in context. I cannot wait to see his face when he unwraps his copy on Christmas morning! St. Francis Xavier- Pray for us.
