      Synopsis

It all begins with the paranoid delusions of a half-insane hero called Rorschach. But is Rorschach really insane or has he in fact uncovered a plot to murder super-heroes and, even worse, millions of innocent civilians? On the run from the law, Rorschach reunites with his former teammates in a desperate attempt to save the world and their lives, but what they uncover will shock them to their very core and change the face of the planet! Following two generations of masked superheroes from the close of World War II to the icy shadow of the Cold War comes this groundbreaking comic story -- the story of The Watchmen.

      Annotation

November 23, 2009: the storyline was initially a bit hard to follow even though i had seen the movie. for me, mostly this was due to the various methods the authors used to tell the story. it wasn't the average graphic novel. but, once i got the plot to the story i really liked the unconventional methods the authors used to develop the characters. and of course the characters themselves were so intriguing. there were so many different points the authors were making that this is definitely going to become part of my permanent library. i know each time i re-read it i will discover more hidden themes and motifs within this amazing graphic novel.

November 19, 2009: This 12 part series (if you collected the individual comics) counts down 12 hours in the lives of a group of ex-superheroes. Based on Charlton comic characters that DC purchased, they gave Alan carte blanche to do his magic. Dave Gibbons artwork is exceptional. Both gentlemen pushed the comic genre to new heights.

Purchase the collected edition and I promise you that you will have a hard time putting it down.
