(Hardcover - Book with CD)
Curry, a consultant in radar systems applications, offers an understanding of the basics of radar design, operation, and applications in this text/CD-ROM package for students and professionals. The text provides fully developed models for radar detection, search modes, environmental effects, and countermeasures. The CD-ROM contains custom radar functions and equations for Excel worksheets that allow readers to calculate radar performance parameters. This second edition features new material on airborne and space-based radar, radar tracking techniques, radar system design, and operational and performance issues. It also provides new detailed examples, problems sets and solutions, and a self-test. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
Based on his own career analyzing radars as part of surveillance, weapons, and traffic control systems, Curry assembles those models for whole-system analysis that he has found most useful in various situations. The key models are coded as Visual Basic for Applications software functions that can be used for radar analysis in Excel workbooks, contained on the 3.5<"> disk. He has simplified some of the models, and tried to indicate where, but reminds readers that they need to be modified for specific applications anyway. He does not expect readers to be radar experts, but to have a general engineering and mathematical background. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
