July 05, 2001: In 'Life and Holiness', Merton perfectly outlines what it means to be Holy. To most, Holiness is something you'd know if you saw, but could never fully explain. Merton tackles this mystery systematically, and throughout the work, paints a picture of holiness as it applies to Christian community life. I can't think of any other man who could better explain holiness than one who dedicated his life to the Lord's work. Merton's works have assisted me in my own discernment, but also in my daily life. His words will echoe for eternity.
