Must Own for Aubrey/Maturin Fansby Anonymous

June 27, 2005: For POB's Aubrey/Maturin readers, this is really a 'must own' if you already enjoy the stories and want to savor the full depth of the world POB's portrayed. As an added bonus, I also found it usefull when I read 'A Passage to India'. The book first covers some basic background information about the ships and the RN for the time period. The rest of the book is a glossary of nautical terms, animals, places, people, foreign phrases, etc. that are used in the series. Though it's not exhaustive, it has so far not let me down on any unusal term I've looked up.
