December 09, 2007: Schwarz claims to have invented the idea of staging a home for buyers about 35 years ago. With that much history on the subject the book should be a lot better. Much of the information is common sense nowadays (like cleaning the house before selling it). She does offer some decent budget-saving tips on decorating, and a fairly extensive checklist for prepping a home for sale. Before and after pictures are somewhat outdated looking though, and she promotes her own business too much.

August 13, 2007: Had had my house on the market for almost 3 months with only a few 'nibbles', and was getting little assistance from our real estate agent. Bought this book, took her instructions to heart, and got a contract on the house within 1 week after implementing Mrs. Schwarz's strategies. A lot of practical information on how to set up each room to sell. I thought had 'decluttered' my home already, until I read her book, great ideas on removing furniture, how to improve look of various rooms, without spending a ton, etc. I really felt like it made a difference. Has before and after pictures of rooms she has staged to give you an idea of how much it might improve the look of the rooms by following a few simple strategies. I have no design background, or natural eye for this sort of thing, and the suggestions in this book really made a difference to me, and I felt like it help to get our home sold quickly when I was starting to get nervous (already had closed on another house). I have recommended this book to several friends already, and I am a big fan. If I ever have to sell a house again, this is my primary resource for getting it sold quickly.
