May 30, 2009: A wonderful historical treatment with Asimov's unique flavor - piffle - what a great word!Contains the additional archaeological discoveries at the time of printing, compares the various sources (Torah, King James,Koran), compares the linguistic (Hebrew,Arabic,Greek, Latin, etc)origins on many words that may have influenced interpretation. It was truly delightful and insightful.

I Also Recommend: Gnostic Gospels of Jesus, Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English, The Gnostic Gospels, Living Gnosis, The Gospel of Philip.

March 27, 2002: For those who are interested in the historic parallels with the Bible, these are great reference books. They give the reader and student geographical and historic background to assist in a comprehensive study of the Bible as literature. In addition to a good concordance and perhaps a study Bible, these books are a great addition to one's understanding of biblical information.
