      Synopsis

This is the dramatic, heartwrenching tale of Max and Worm, two outsiders who turn to each other for survival. Written in a haunting yet uplifting first-person voice, this compelling novel is destined to become a classic.

      Annotation

Fourteen-year-old Max helps a younger girl escape from her abusive stepfather by running away with her to the distant town of Chivalry, Montana, searching for her real father.

      Publishers Weekly

PW's starred review called this sequel to Freak the Mighty "a rip-roaring, heartwarming escapade." Ages 10-14. (Oct.)

      Worst Sequel Ever!by Anonymous

June 22, 2008: I read both Freak the Mighty and Max the Mighty and there is no comparison between the two which was better. Freak the mighty was so much better. While reading Max the Mighty, I felt it lost its touch with reality so to speak. It seems as one reviewer before me said, that Rodman Philbrick got bored writing it and ended it very slopily therefore we as the readers lost interest and got bored with it as well. I recommend Freak the Mighty over Max the Mighty any day!

June 14, 2007: ok so after reading freak the mighty ur expecting an amazing sequal right? well personally i thought it was a let down. Max and Rachel run away. They find dippy hippie. Good so far. Then the con artists that are hiding something. Very interesting. To bad it a wimpy ending. It seems like Rodman Philback got sick of writing this book and finished it quick. Its a real shame. Even though it isn't as great as it could be, i'd reccomend it. Its just to suspensful after freak dies in Freak the Mighty.
