From the dark recesses of a moon-based hotel bar, unemployed actor Lorenzo Smythe is hired to impersonate John Bonforte, a politician who's been kidnapped in the middle of an election campaign. Lorenzo knows nothing of the issues concerning free interplanetary trade and equal rights for aliens--and cares even less, but the politico's top aide offers a handsome compensation, and assurance that the charade will last only until they find Mr. Bonforte....
More Reviews and RecommendationsA science fiction pioneer, Robert A. Heinlein wrote popular stories that doubled as vessels for his political and cultural observations. In classics such as Stranger in a Strange Land and Starship Troopers, Heinlein blended suspenseful adventure with (sometimes controversial) visions of alternate worlds.

February 05, 2001: A great book! I really enjoyed reading it. And I enjoyed reading it the second and the third time! The book is basically about an actor who has to impersonate a public figure, in order to prevent a war with the aliens, but I won't go any further with the plot, or I'll spoil the fun. Anyhow, the story has lots of twists and turns, and is going to make you 'hod on to it' 'till the end.
