      December 10, 2002: I like to take books to appointments and kids events. This is one of the best. It has lots of short articles and insights. You can read for a while, slap in the bookmark and pick it up again later. Every briefcase should have this book. As a baby boomer, I grew up on these shows. I love reading about who did what and who sat on their butt. It's great to turn the page and exclaim "Oh yeah! I remember that" and "So that's what happened" although it disturbs the people around me who quickly start leaning over to see what I'm reading. The author makes the topic fun. It's lighthearted with loads of personal stories from people affected by the show. I love the comments about the kids shows. Who would have thought these minor shows would have such an impact on people today? I thought WE were the only town that had one of these shows. It turns out they were everywhere and every one was different yet the same. I wish my kids could see these shows today. Although I don't have time to watch TV now, I enjoy reliving those great days of yesteryear and reading about those old shows I will never see again.

      November 20, 2002: This book is full of subject matter I've never read anything about before. You go in thinking you're only interested in one thing and you get sucked in by the other facsinating stories. It was like getting aquainted with old friends again, like Mary Hartline, Romper Room, Froggy the Gremlin and Winky Dink! Winky Dink was my favorite show as a youngster, I used to draw on the TV with or without my Winky Dink kit. No one I've ever met remembers that show but here it is, I can prove it now! The pictures (over 600 of them) bring it all back for me as well, and the CD had video from some of the obsure shows, but I wish the clips were longer. Another good story was the piece on whatever happened to the TV houses. It's something I never thought about before but it was a very interesting story. I also enjoyed the long section on the variety shows of the 70's like Sonny and Cher, the Goldiggers and Carol Burnett. But my favorite thing in the book was the look at Dell Comics based on TV shows, I used to buy those as a youngster as well. This is a great book and it still sits by my nightstand. Everytime I pick it up I find something new in it. The little comments and quotes at the bottom of the pages are priceless. Highly reccommended!
