October 23, 2002: Historian Tony Castro did what I thought could not be done; he gives us a new and different look at Mickey Mantle, the Major League's finest ball player between 1953 and 1962. If you really want to understand why Mickey Mantle was the way he was, read the provacative masterpiece, "America's Prodigal Son" It is without doubt the best ressearched and best written sports biography I've ever read. It should be required reading for all baseball fans, all parents, and anyone who wants to understand the impact that Mickey Mantle--and television--had in the fifties and sixties.

October 02, 2002: It was OK. I guess DiMaggio IS the best... even his biography. I just expected more.
