      Synopsis

A limited edition holiday boxed set of Stephen Hawking's expertly illustrated, groundbreaking scientific classics. This is essential reading for all of us who want to better comprehend the universe in which we live. The two book boxed set includes one copy each of The Universe in a Nutshell and The Illustrated Brief History of Time.

      Biography

Stephen Hawking made black holes palatable for the masses with his 1988 book A Brief History of Time, which had The New York Times pointing out that he is “bravely taking some of the first, though tentative, steps toward quantizing the early universe.”

March 16, 2003: Fifteen years ago, when the original 'Brief History...' was published, I was fresh out of engineering school and not immediately motivated to return to 'the books'. Thanks to the thousands who made this book a best seller, and to the publisher for bringing it, and an exquisitely illustrated version of it back for us to enjoy again. After reading 'Galileo's Daughter', it is refreshing to read the thoughts and ideas of a brilliant mind, uncensored and enhanced with top-notch graphics. We should applaud Professor Hawking's mission to share the advanced work of today's scientists with the masses. While even with illustrations, some of the material presented still prove to be quite a challenge, these volumes (The Illustrated A Brief History of Time, and The Universe In A Nutshell) will not collect dust as their beauty will bring readers to return to them in the future again and again. Oh, and this package is a steal at $40... Enjoy!

December 04, 2002: The richly illustrated and vividly presented ideas of modern physics and cosmology make Stephen Hawking Box Set an essential item for every personal or public library. One should also read other indispensable basic books in which the enigmatic relation between simplicity and complexity and the uncertain nature of perception are considered. The proper basic knowledge shows shorter pragmatic paths to success.
