Got God?Everybody searches for the divine. But so many of us keep seeking our "Higher Power" in inappropriate places-like drugs, alcohol, sex, money, power, even other people. "Looking for God in All the Wrong Places" is a spiritual field guide that uses humor, insight, and experience to examine the people, places, and things we often mistake for our Higher Power. By revealing the detours, pitfalls, and roadblocks along the path to union with the divine, this enlightening and entertaining book provides a powerful navigational tool spiritual seekers can use to avoid looking in the wrong places and get to where God can truly be found.

September 19, 2003: This is one of those rare spiritual books that actually makes you think and laugh as well as feel as though you are getting some enlightenment! The author is truly a master at the reverent and the irreverent and I can't remember when I've enjoyed reading a 'spiritual' book so much! Filled with essays about everything from why religion is dangerous, how other people become our Gods, why celebrity worship is hurting our society, nationalism and the dangers of loving country more than humanity, and so much more, with lots of punchy laughs and powerful 'a-ha's' mixed in. I cannot wait until the Rev. Jones writes another book!!!

June 04, 2003: 'Looking For God in All the Wrong Places' is not a book about religion. It doesn't preach and it doesn't support any particular belief. What it does do is give the reader an opportunity to journey back to themselves. I have always found God to be rather elusive in my life. As I wandered through all the wrong places looking for God with author, Marie D. Jones, I saw myself and people I know in her examples. Whether it's being an alcoholic, workoholic, or chocoholic, most of us put our energy into something outside ourselves to find solace. But what we're really doing is sublimating our pains beneath our obsessions. By the time I finished the book, I realized that finding God in my life didn't have to be so hard. And I wasn't going to find it outside myself. Out there I only find escape. When I realized through quiet times of prayer, meditation, or just being in nature, I could find peace without needing to escape, I felt relieved. I plan to use this inspiring book as my reminder to take time daily to find God right where I am.
