    Synopsis

In ancient times, the Greeks created the gods and goddesses to represent the various personalities of human nature. In Gods and Goddesses in Love, Agapi Stassinopoulos tells the stories of the primary goddesses and gods, and how their myths can provide insight into your own romantic relationships.

Included are two fun and fascinating quizzes: one for women to determine their own dominant personality type and which goddess she most embodies; and a second that will help every woman understand more about the "god" she is involved with, or searching for.

In the book, the seven archetypal goddesses are portrayed in modern terms, highlighting not only each goddess's unique strengths but also the pitfalls or stumbling blocks she is likely to encounter in a relationship with her partner. Also included are interviews with real couples who reveal how they overcame obstacles to find true love.

For anyone who desires the self-knowledge and empowerment to find their ideal other, Gods and Goddesses in Love is an uplifting, instructive, and enlightening guide for achieving greater fulfillment in love.

    Library Journal

Peay (Soul Sisters: The Five Sacred Qualities of a Woman's Soul) offers a serious, almost scholarly examination of the astrological event "said to throw schedules off kilter, derail the best-laid plans, cast doubt in personal relationships" and mire us in "confusion and anxiety"-i.e., Mercury retrograde, when the planet appears to be backwards in the sky. Peay urges readers to become introspective and contemplative during these unstable periods, which occur about three times a year for three weeks. Retrograde's purpose, however, is a bit unclear; does it force us to find "pleasure in the old, familiar, and timeless rather than the new and untried," or does it shift "us off our well-beaten paths onto life's unexplored byways"? Not recommended. Stassinopolous (Conversations with the Goddesses) injects much personal detail into her book, which characterizes the relationships between the mythical Greek goddesses and gods as archetypes mirroring contemporary human experiences. Self-quizzes identify readers' dominant and secondary Greek archetypes, and the stories of each become metaphorical "guides for freedom" (e.g., Demeter/Poseidon couples "fuel each other's creativity and sexuality and help each other grow"). Though potent, these lessons are related unevenly, which limits their applicability. Also, the brief, god/goddess-specific chapters treat archetypes simplistically. Pass; for a clearer overall approach to predictive astrology, consider Kris Brandt Riske's optimistic Mapping Your Future: Understand & Maximize Your Potential. January 03, 2008: I really recommend reading this book. It's very, very good. I have purchased at least 12 copies so far for my friends and I am still short a couple of more copies which I recently ordered from Barnes and Noble. Regards to All out there, Elias Eljuri
