(Hardcover)
The authors introduce the use of stochastic simulation for the evaluation of the impact of the support effect (the difference in size between volumes of ore/waste and smaller amounts of rock actually sampled) and the information effect (the difference in data quality and quantity between the time of reserves evaluation and that of grade control and mining) on mineral mining dilution. Largely a general presentation of methodology, they rely on two example reference data sets to demonstrate the application of their proposed simulation of recovery approach and a volume-variance correction algorithm.
