July 28, 2002: As a Staff Sergeant, and a Cavalry Scout serving in the US Army, I can personally say this book is the closest thing there is to being there. The story itself is well written and many of the thoughts the characters have , I have had, many times myself. This book was written by someone who, has the title of 'Cavalry Scout'. So if you want to see the inner workings of a Cavalry Platoon and personnel, then this is a must read book.
