Among their best-known titles are Bulimia: A Guide to Recovery, Anorexia Nervosa: A Guide to Recovery(Lindsey and Monika Ostroff), and Full Lives: Women Who Have Freed Themselves from Food & Weight Obsession, all of which have been translated into other languages, such as French, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese. Their company, Gürze Books, also publishes books related to eating disorders by a wide array of respected authors.
Lindsey is a graduate of Stanford University with a B.A. in Psychology (1971) and was the first recovered bulimic to appear on national television to share her story. She served as Executive Director of Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention, Inc. and in the late ‘70s pioneered the soft-sculpture art form, designing and selling more than a half-million Gürze dolls throughout the world. Leigh, who has an M.A.T. from Northwestern University (1975) is Executive Editor of Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention, a peer review newsletter for clinicians, and is a past president of Publishers Marketing Association. Lindsey and Leigh are the parents of two sons, Neil and Charlie.
