November 18, 2003: I alternated between crying and laughing while on the DC Metro while reading the book. Got some wierd looks but who gives a damn. Some of the stories were of people I knew during 69-75 and of a couple i've met since reading it. Cant wait for Volume II to come out. Survivor of 224th Avn Bn (RR), 1st RR Co (AVN), 7th RRFS, VHFS and HAFB ASA WILL ALWAYS LIVE!!!

November 30, 2002: A smorgasboard of both story and memoir, there is something here for the career ASA vet as well as the 'temp' help, the single term enlistee. The book is earnest testimony by those swept up in the national discourse of a society wildly at odds with itself, a period in which the future was not entirely in their own hands. In sum, it is account of young men trying to accomodate their obligations as citizens with their own well-being, but not without the occasional belly laugh.
