    Synopsis

Most sixteen-year-olds have friends. Aden Stone has four human souls living inside him:

    One can time-travel.

    One can raise the dead.

    One can tell the future.

And one can possess another human.

With no other family and a life spent in and out of institutions, Aden and the souls have become friends. But now they're causing him all kinds of trouble. Like, he'll blink and suddenly he's a younger Aden, reliving the past. One wrong move, and he'll change the future. Or he'll walk past a total stranger and know how and when she's going to die.

He's so over it. All he wants is peace.

And then he meets a girl who quiets the voices. Well, as long as he's near her. Why? Mary Ann Gray is his total opposite. He's a loner; she has friends. He doesn't care what anyone thinks; she tries to make everyone happy. And while he attracts the paranormal, she repels it. For her sake, he should stay away. But it's too late….

Somehow, they share an inexplicable bond of friendship. A bond about to be tested by a werewolf shape-shifter who wants Mary Ann for his own, and a vampire princess Aden can't resist.

Two romances, both forbidden. Still, the four will enter a dark underworld of intrigue and danger—but not everyone will come out alive….

    Publishers Weekly

Supernatural forces of all kinds collide in this overcrowded offering from Showalter (Blacklisted), who chronicles the adventures of two unlikely couples. Aden Stone, 16, has been in and out of mental institutions and group homes all his life, thanks to the four disembodied souls inside his head. Each grants him a separate power—“Julian... woke the dead, and Elijah could predict the death of anyone who passed him”—but their constant presence makes it hard for Aden to blend in. Mary Ann Gray has the ability to negate powers, granting Aden internal peace for the first time. Shortly after they become friends, Aden falls for a vampire princess while Mary Ann romances a werewolf. Their newfound relationships are promptly tested when witches, faeries, demons and more come to town in search of an unexpected source of power. Toss in some shambling undead, ghosts with unresolved issues and a vampiric struggle for dominance, and all that's missing is the (haunted) kitchen sink. However, strong characterization, believable romantic interplay and a fast-paced plot do a lot to redeem this story, as does an underlying sense of mystery. Ages 14–up. (Sept.)

November 18, 2009: Intertwined was a fun read but it got kind of tangled(if that make any sense), let me explain,i LOVED Gena's writing style but the storyline had too much going on. I got a little confused here and there. I think this is one of those books that would probably get untangled in the next book. What kept me reading was the World that Gena put me in. Fairies, flesh eating goblins, throw in a couple hot guys. This book was good but it had it's flaws.

I liked all the characters, even the souls in Aden's head. Aden kept the story interesting. Although the focus shifted off him to Mary Ann. I found the characters well developed in the world of crazyiness.

As for the two romances,it was kind of rushed, O.k So it goes like this: the first people we meet in this book are Aden and Mary Ann. They meet the other two main characters and BAM crushes have been formed.I understand the soulmate thing but, there has to be a development in the relationships. Call me old fashion but i like the I getting to know you to happen first. So the romances didn't do it for me, but there was a couple of cute moments.I can totally see all of them being together. Just take it a little slower.

There was alot of action in the book, from the first page. There was alot of biting, stabbing, time traveling, and well kicking some evil butt! lol It was fast paced but at the last 2 chapters the book sort of fast forwarded to a quick ending that left me still looking for the last page. It wasn't a cliffhanger, but it felt well....rushed again. Like o.k BYE! you know?

A biggest problem I had with the book was that there was a lot of ideas being thrown at the reader,it kind of worked for the story because it keep you on your toes. But at some parts it was a little too much.I would have liked that the author concentrate on Aden and his story.Intertwined is promising, i'll be reading the next book in the series.I know the next book would be better. Plus, i hope it would be, because I LOVE paranormal books.

November 17, 2009: I loved this book from the very beginning and couldn't put it down. It is a little slow at times, but I fell in love with Aden right off the bat and didn't mind taking the time to learn about him. To me it's ok if a book is a little slow sometimes if the characters are worth reading about, and these deff are. And it's a nice change to read a book from the male characters point of view which you get in this book, too. Aden is strong yet sensitive and is an amazing friend. I loved the souls, the werewolf and Mary Ann as well, but wasn't so happy with the vampire who was after Aden. Their relationship progressed far too quickly with nothing to even get them to that point and I think a little more time could have been spent on that, though I would have liked for him to end up with Mary Ann, which naturally by reading what the book is about, is what we root for from the beginning, right? But I was very happy with who Mary Ann ended up with! Over all, it was creative, inventive and touches the heart. Showalter incorporated all sorts of paranormal creatures into this book, plus some "souls" you wouldn't think of. I finished it quickly cause I couldn't put it down and am now dying to have to wait untill next Sept for "Unraveled". I suggest this book to anyone who likes a really good paranormal romance with TWO -not one, but two- heartstopping male leads and a very good amount of suspense!
