(Hardcover)
Simple text introduces the activities, users, employees, and contents of a public library.
Gr 2-4-Two introductions to typical field-trip sites with writing that is drab and uninvolving. The double-page spreads include bold, oversized texts and full-page photographs. The pictures are detailed and colorful and add to the understanding of the terms introduced. Small cartoon characters offer additional words of wisdom in dialogue balloons. At the Grocery Store has little information that will interest children, and Gail Gibbons's Check It Out (Harcourt, 1985) and William Jaspersohn's My Hometown Library (Houghton, 1994) cover the same material, plus more, in a more absorbing way.-Stephani Hutchinson, Pioneer Elementary School, Sunnyside, WA Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
