    Synopsis

#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan first introduced readers to the Leopard People in this erotic novel of passion and suspense. With the release of its follow-up, Burning Wild, in May 2009, fans will be on the hunt for this one.

    Publishers Weekly

Feehan has a knack for bringing vampiric Carpathians to vivid, virile life in her Dark Carpathian novels, and in this new book, which builds on her short story "The Awakening," she focuses on a different kind of sensual predator-a half-human/half-leopard species of shapeshifters. Mysterious freelance paramilitary operative Rio Santana is a member of this breed, but he's been banished from his clan and lives in a solitary rainforest dwelling. Enter Rachel Lospostos, who has marooned herself in the jungle to escape a group of murderers. Blood runs hot between the two, both emotionally and literally-their first meeting is a near-terminal cat fight that leaves Rachel bedridden with a mangled leg and a broken wrist. As Rio cares for her, it becomes clear that their relationship is fated, but it may soon be cut short if they don't figure out who wants Rachel dead. Suspense often takes a backseat to the protagonists' romantic feelings, but Feehan handles both elements skillfully, drawing villains who are sufficiently threatening and creating a romance that feels both destined and believable. Readers whose fantasies center on untamed wilderness and on untamed heroes who are as sensitive as they are strong will be seduced by this erotic adventure. (Feb.) Biography

Christine Feehan - I live in the beautiful mountains of Lake County California. I have always loved hiking, camping, rafting and being outdoors. I've also been involved in the martial arts for years - I hold a third degree black belt, instruct in a Korean karate system, and have taught self-defense. I am happily married to a romantic man who often inspires me with his thoughtfulness. We have a yours, mine, and ours family, claiming eleven children as our own. I have always written books, forcing my ten sisters to read every word, and now my daughters read and help me edit my manuscripts. It is fun to take all the research I have done on wild animals, raptors, vampires, weather, and volcanoes and put it together with romance. Please visit my website at christinefeehan.com.

    Not too badby Beeb208

November 12, 2009: I am glad that I read Burning Wild first. If I had read this one first I would not have been inclined to read the 3rd intstallment. While I confess that I do like to read romance novels I am not a soft romance kind of reader. I enjoy the urban fantasy/paranormal more. If you enjoy hard hitting flat out romance. This is the book for you. There were some parts that I glanced through as the were a bit long, but I enjoyed the characters and the basic storyline. Rio was an interestering character and his relationship with Rachel developed so quickly I was taken aback, but that was addressed. There were a few plot twists that did keep me interested. Not too bad.

I Also Recommend: Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter Series), Midnight Rising (Midnight Breed Series #4), Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood Series #3), Hunters.

October 13, 2009: Ok Rio is hot! I read Burning Wild before reading Wild Rain, and let me tell you, it is just as sizzling! If you like one, you will like the other - though Jake and Rio are as different as night and day. The sex scenes are definetily steamy & erotic, so if you are into that, you will like this book.
