      Synopsis

Strange, twisted carvings and hideous gargoyles adorned the palazzo of the great Scarletti family. But a still more fearful secret lurked within its storm-tossed turrets. For every bride who entered its forbidding walls was doomed to leave in a casket.

Mystical and unfettered, Nicoletta had no terror of ancient curses and no fear of marriage...until she looked into the dark, mesmerizing eyes of Don Scarletti. She had sworn no man would command her, had thought her gift of healing set her apart, but his was the right to choose a bride from among his people. And he had chosen her.

Compelled by duty, drawn by desire, she gave her body into his keeping, and prayed the powerful, tormented don would be her heart's destiny, and not her soul's demise.

November 11, 2009: I have read every book by Christine Feehan and will automatically buy anything she writes. This is one of my all time favorite books by her and overall. It does have very strong characters and a great story. You really get caught up in it. I have read this book over numerous times and never get tired of it.

November 10, 2009: Please don't be confused. This is an EXCELLENT book. However, it is a reprint and not a new story by Ms. Feehan. Fans of Ms. Feehan's work will recognize the Scarletti family as one that will be the focus of Dark Symphony, one of the Carpathian stories. This story is more of a prologue to that novel as it explores an earlier generation. Fans who may have read Dark Symphony first will come to understand better the twists and turns once they have explored the Scarletti Curse.

The characters in this novel are strong, and as with all of Ms. Feehan's work, the story draws the reader in and allows you to emphasize with the hero and heroine. A truly great read!

I Also Recommend: Dark Slayer (Dark Series #20), Dark Slayer (Dark Series #20), Dark Symphony (Dark Series #10), Dark Curse (Dark Series #19), Dark Curse (Dark Series #19).
