The vampire in me was closer to the surface . . .
Evernight Academy: an exclusive boarding school for the most beautiful, dangerous students of all—vampires. Bianca, born to two vampires, has always been told her destiny is to become one of them.
But Bianca fell in love with Lucas—a vampire hunter sworn to destroy her kind. They were torn apart when his true identity was revealed, forcing him to flee the school.
Although they may be separated, Bianca and Lucas will not give each other up. She will risk anything for the chance to see him again, even if it means coming face-to-face with the vampire hunters of Black Cross—or deceiving the powerful vampires of Evernight. Bianca's secrets will force her to live a life of lies.
Yet Bianca isn't the only one keeping secrets. When Evernight is attacked by an evil force that seems to target her, she discovers the truth she thought she knew is only the beginning. . . .
Bianca's second year at Evernight Academy begins with a mystery that she is determined to solve. Why does this academy that specializes in training vampires how to live successfully in contemporary society admit students who are decidedly not vampires? Humans are off limits in terms of feeding. So why does headmistress Mrs. Bethany allow them entrance to the school? Bianca's snooping yields little information, but it does attract the attention of a wraith, a ghost-like creature that seems to be tracking her. As students return to school, one of them carries a smuggled letter from Lucas, the young man she loves. Lucas, a member of the Black Cross, is banned from Evernight because his compatriots hunt and destroy vampires, a fact that complicates Lucas and Bianca's relationship. Will love be able to conquer all the obstacles? In this sequel to Evernight (HarperTeen, 2008/VOYA August 2008), readers learn more about some of the characters. Raquel has experienced ghostly apparitions; Balthazar has a sister who is also a vampire. Perhaps the biggest secret to be revealed concerns Bianca and her true nature. Although some events are predictable, especially for aficionados of the genre, the fast-paced action, the threatening presence of the wraith, and the inevitable battle between vampires and hunters will keep readers engrossed and longing for another installment. The open ending of this book guarantees there is more to come. Reviewer: Teri S. Lesesne

January 09, 2010: I really liked the first book the Evernight Academy series so i read the 2nd...The beginning of the book was okay, but the ending ruined it for me. It was just not what i wanted to happen at all. I would say more but i dont want to spoil the ending, so ill leave it at this. Not worth buying or reading.
