      Synopsis

Mom and the Polka-Dot Boo-Boo is an informative and reassuring story that helps families talk about breast cancer. Lovingly written by a mother of two and beautifully illustrated by her young daughter, Maggie, it gently prepares children for what lies ahead in the weeks and months following their mother's diagnosis.

September 06, 2009: I bought this book to explain to my five-year old daughter about my recent diagnosis of breast cancer. Although the rhythm of the book is a little off, the story hits the high points of what the surgery and meds will do and ends very sweetly. We have reread it numerous times and I believe it really helped her understand what was going on. I would definitely recommend it to others with young daughters going through this.
