October 18, 2009: Anyone traveling the roads into or out of Alaska needs this guide. Due to the remoteness of some of the areas, the comprehensive info on accomodations, food, and fuel are a must. Also enjoyable is the host of information about the terrain, wildlife, population centers, etc. It helps to have a "navigator" in the vehicle to read as you travel along.
The format can be difficult but once you locate where you are on a highway and which direction you are traveling (the information works for going both north and south), it all falls into place.Reader Rating:

October 11, 2009: I don't know when the publicatons staff checked the information on hotels, etc. Surely they must know in these hard economic times that businesses fail - we found hotels closed or for sale, gas stations closed or for sale, etc. it went on and on.
Please be aware that usa pay as you go phones like tracphone do not work in canada.I agree with another poster to rely on your gps device. We were unlucky that the latest update to our garmin turned it into a brick - and was unusable.
