February 13, 2007: This is not a light read. it is serious literature for serious readers. But if you are willing to put forth some intellectual effort for an enormous return, John Brown's Body will more than reward you. It is a monumental work that more than pays back the commitment made in reading it. If, OTOH, you want a quick, easy read to rush through so you can write a book report with an impressive title and get back to your TV show or video game, don't even try it.

November 06, 2003: An incredible book that provides history through poetry. It is also a reminder of the customs of life (mostly Biblical) that originated from that time period. There was still a very English lifestyle during that time. A very passionate piece of work. -Neil
