      Synopsis

The highly acclaimed short story collection by the author of The House on Mango Street is now available in a Spanish edition. El arroyo de La Llorana brings to life an astonishing array of characters and, like La casa en Mango Street, promises to become a book that will be cherished around the world. "Radiant."--New York Times Book Review.

      Library Journal

A little girl revealing secrets as only a child can; a witch flies at dawn over a small townthese are just two of the scenarios presented by Cisneros in this collection of short stories. A writer of vivid imagination, with a very acute sense of mysticism and a witty poetic style, Cisneros not only entertains but leaves a lasting impression. A key work from a major Hispanic American writer; recommended for public libraries.Jose M. Fornes

September 21, 2003: I found this book to be extremely confusing and difficult to follow. There did not really seem to be any underlying themes at all. The stories did not flow together and I just found it confusing. The book was entertaining; however, it just did not make any sence as to why the stories were put together the way that they were. On the other hand I may have just interpreted the book incorrectly.
